QDiabetes 2011.01

Publisher Description

This app brings the qdiabetes.org Type 2 diabetes risk assessment tool to the iPhone. Formally known as QDScore, and found at qdscore.org, we've changed the name because we think that it is better. You can use QDiabetes to estimate your risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes over the next one to ten years by answering some simple questions. It is suitable for people who do not already have a diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes. The algorithms have been specifically developed by Prof Julia Hippisley-Cox and Dr Carol Copeland in the UK to identify people at high risk of Type 2 diabetes so they can be assessed in more detail to reduce their risk. The original research was done using the QResearch anonymised medical research database and published in the British Medical Journal in 2009 ( BMJ 2009;338:b880), where it was referred to as QDScore. An independent external validation of QDiabetes has also been published in Diabetic Medicine: Collins, G. S. and Altman, D. G. (2011), External validation of QDSCORE for predicting the 10-year risk of developing Type 2 diabetes. Diabetic Medicine, 28: 599 607. doi: 10.1111/j.1464-5491.2011.03237.x QDiabetes and QDScore are registered trademarks of ClinRisk Ltd.
